The Fortress Rocca a Mare is built atop a natural rocky outcrop, which the Venetians were compelled to supplement by sinking old galleons filled with rocks, gravel and boulders transported from Fraskia and the island Dia. The fortress has two storeys, and in its final form covered a total area of around 3,600 square meters.
